In 2014, Belgian Fiber Manufacturing, finalised together with prof. FJ the Boer a master thesis at the Hazen High school Groningen The Netherlands : "Concrete fibers in new application areas ".
Herewith is studied, and in line with the worldwide application in tunnel constructions, what the positive effects during a fire are by using Belmix polypropylene fiber in parking garages and high buildings.
There were two fire simulations created. The advantage of using Belmix PP fibers becomes even more strongly at the more frequent application of high strength concrete in building construction. In case of a fire , the constructive integrity is strongly extended , so that the safety and accessibility time of the firemen is increased.
